The voice you’ll hear first
Brother Jimi <jimi@brotherjimi.com>to me
When something goes wrong, whose voice do you hear first?
It’s not always the one you say you believe. It’s usually the one you’ve been listening to the most.
If you’ve been taking in the news, fear, and everyone else’s opinions, that’s what you’ll hear. Before you know it, you’re panicking, complaining, or doing things your own way.
But if you’ve been taking in God’s Word day after day, you’ll hear Him first. Instead of panicking, you’ll stop and ask, “What is God saying about this?”
This is what God told Joshua just before he led Israel into the Promised Land:
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night.” Joshua 1:8
So start today. Before you check your phone, open your Bible. Take in one verse and say it out loud. Meditate on it again tonight.
Hard days will come. When they do, what you hear first will depend on what you’ve been listening to.
Your brother,
Jimi
