“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end” (Isaiah 9:6-7). Love was born at Christmas. Kindness, faithfulness and a giving Spirit were born at Christmas. Therefore, when you celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, you are celebrating His giving Spirit, faithfulness, love, kindness and divine knowledge. Our love for Christ is the basis of our love for one another. If you say you love God – God loves the strangers, He loves the widows, the orphans, the needy – you should therefore be under obligation to love your fellow brother, to love others, to love your neighbour. Your neighbour could be your enemy, your neighbour could be those who do not share the same faith as you, love them. Jesus is the reason for the season. In Mark 12:41-42, Jesus watched as the poor widow put into the offering box what she cherished most, her two last coins. Nothing is too small to plant – be it your love, your time, your strength, your effort – nothing is too small to plant if you are giving what God has put in your heart to give. Someone, somewhere is waiting for you this Christmas, so look around for those who are in need and follow in the light of love; act love, do love and let love lead.
