1 John 2:10-11, “Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going because the darkness has blinded them.” We are not here to get used to the dark. We are here to shine as light. Therefore, if we say we love God, our heart will be open to those He loves – for we are love’s products. If we say we have everything but lack love, we deceive ourselves and the light of God is not in us. God is love. Love must therefore be uppermost in our hearts. We must not allow any unloving or unforgiving spirit in our hearts because the harbouring of such spirit towards others breaks communion with God. And a break with God is a break with life, with light itself. We must be ready to reach out with compassion and generosity to those around us – for they are lonely so that you can be their companion. They are fatherless so that you can be their father. They are in need so that you can be their benefactor. We must spend more on others and less on ourselves. For what we render or fail to render to others, we render or fail to render unto God. The Book of Acts says that the Word of God grew in the mind of the people. It gained supremacy over them. The Word living in you gets into your blood. It becomes an integral part of you. You will come to see that God’s Word is Him speaking to you today. When you know that God’s Word is God speaking to you today, it will not be hard to obey. When you see the naked, it will not be hard for you to clothe them. When you see the hungry, it will not be hard for you to feed them. When you see the hurting, it will not be hard for you to comfort them. Jesus is the light of the world - dispelling every shade of darkness in our lives. Follow in the light of love and make a difference in a troubled world.
